Oh boy, as it appears marrying an ex-con is coming back to bite Phaedra Parks in her donkey booty.
According to the AJC, Apollo surrendered to the authorities this week and appeared in front of U.S. District Judge Gerrilyn G. Brill on Thursday (Jan. 23). Luckily for him, he was released on a pretrial bond of $25,000.
Court documents reveal that back in February of 2012, the government started investigating Gayla St. Julien, whom they suspected was involved in fraudulent activities — opening bank accounts under stolen identities to commit bank and check fraud.
And then in September 2013, Gayla was arrested after they discovered 40 bank accounts containing $3 million tied to her. Following her arrest, Gayla of course immediately started singing like a bird (don’t they always?) and pointed every possible finger to Apollo.
Gayla revealed Apollo, 35, was the mastermind behind all the schemes, stating they used two fake debt-collection businesses to “illicitly obtain personal identifying information of individuals.”
It didn’t end there as Gayla also revealed she had been working with Nida since 2009 (yes that was the same year Apollo got out of prison and married Phaedra… in case you were wondering). Wowzers. She went on to describe herself as “NIDA’s ‘right hand b****’ in executing the legwork of his fraud schemes.” She even told law enforcement that she received “scraps” in comparison to what Apollo netted.
Apollo is alleged to have opened a fake auto dealership, applying for auto loans using the stolen identities.
Unfortunately for Apollo, it appears the Feds have some strong evidence against him because they had Gayla wear a wire to record conversations with Apollo, during which he explained his alleged crimes in detail. The Feds also revealed they obtained a bank debit card in the name of Ferrari Autohaus Inc., cell phones and a laptop computer, during a legal search of Apollo’s vehicle.
As most of you are aware, Apollo spent 2004 to 2009 in prison for crimes that are pretty darn similar to these new charges. He was found guilty back then of breaking federal racketeering laws in the form of auto title fraud and etc.
Apollo is due back in court on Feb. 12, 2014 for a preliminary hearing. Neither Apollo nor Phaedra have yet to comment on these very serious charges.
I must say I’m truly shocked and dumbfounded that someone who just got out of prison, would go right back to committing the same crimes that got him in prison. Especially when that someone is married to an attorney, with whom he has two children with. Surely he couldn’t be desperate for money, you know, considering his wife is a LAWYER! This is just so incredibly stupid on Apollo’s part. Unlike other ex-cons, he married up and was able to use her connections to find a decent job. Why wasn’t that good enough? It will be interesting to see how Phaedra will choose to address this in the public eye.
